This past September, CPAWS, Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative (Y2Y), the Sierra Club, and the Alberta Wilderness Association urged the Alberta Government to end new road construction in bear habitat until the amount of roads are at or below the amount identified in the provincial Grizzly Bear Recovery Plan. These actions are recommended in the Plan, yet more than three years after the government adopted the plan, none of them have been taken, and the plight of bears on the ground grows worse.
CPAWS' last appeal for calls to the Premier's office generated over 1000 calls, an amazing show of support for the Castle. Let's make our voices heard once again on this issue, and hold Redford accountable to her campaign promise of bringing change to the province and listening to the voices of Albertans!
