Aquatic Field Study

Connect youth to their local waterways through a scientific experience out in the field!

Using modern field equipment, chemical testing and field guides, students take science into their own hands and see the impacts humans have on our local environment. With our professional guides assistance, participants will diagnose the health of their study area and make educated assumptions as to the causes and consequences of this diagnosis.

What teachers & students are saying

  • “The best parts of the program were the experiential component, Julie's stories and off-the-cuff teachable moments, the flexibility of the program - seeing that students are experiencing a moment that is great and allowing it to flow instead of moving on to the next thing. The classroom component was great! I liked the visual of the watershed especially.”

-Leah Andries, High School Teacher, Robert Thirsk High School
  • “It's a great chance for students to go out to the mountains and get hands-on experience with the curriculum material. For many of them, they had never even been to the mountains before so it allowed them to gain a much more personal understanding of the content.” ”

    -Teacher, East Lake School, Chestermere
  • “I loved the use of props and the high level of student involvement. I also like that it encouraged students to work towards protecting animals and their habitats. The program let students know that their voice is heard”

    -Teacher, Tuscany School
