Art has always been an important medium to tell the story of nature across the world. Join these local Alberta artists, to talk about how art, film, and storytelling can propel environmentalism and promote conservation. Watch one of our artists, Courtney, create a piece during the livestream inspired by the conversation and audience questions!
 
About the presenters:
 
Audrey Lane Cockett is a spoken word poet, educator, soundscape artist, and artistic director based in Treaty 7 land, Calgary AB. Her work is rooted in wild, both outside and in. Through her work in education, film, soundscape, and poetry she is a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, social equality, love, and care for the natural world. She is a poetic educator, working with schools to create and perform poetry. She is also a park naturalist teaching students about the natural world from K-9 in the Elbow River Valley. Audrey Lane also does programs that blend science and art together to deepen our understandings of each. She believes art is an avenue for strengthening community, education, and connection to place.

Quite simply, Sheri Tarrington believes that all humans are better humans when they are encouraged to learn, explore and play outdoors. For more than 15 years, Sheri has dreamed, designed and inspired a vast spectrum of environmental education programming on behalf of national parks, provincial municipalities, county school boards and her very own ecoliteracy outreach venture, In Their Nature. Possessing an honour’s degree in Canadian Studies from the University of Guelph, she is an accredited Professional Interpretive and Hiking Guide renowned for her infectious enthusiasm and wide-eyed love of nature.
