CPAWS Southern Alberta EVENTS

Protecting the Forests of the Eastern Slopes

Please join us for an interactive evening featuring acclaimed author and biologist Lorne Fitch and our own Conservation Science and Programs Manager Josh Killeen as we dive into how YOU can deepen your engagement in the conservation of our invaluable forested headwaters in the Eastern Slopes.

Date: March 20, 2026
Doors: 6PM
Start: 6:30PM
Location: Studio Theatre at cSPACE Marda Loop | 1721 29 Ave SW, Calgary AB

For those of you who’ve written letters, attended industry-led open houses, and are at your wit’s end — AKA, want to level up your understanding of and ability to influence forestry management in Southern Alberta — we warmly encourage you to attend!

Lorne Fitch, former Government of Alberta Fisheries Biologist, will read from his latest book, with copies available for purchase, while CPAWS Southern Alberta staff will present an update on the status of forestry in Southern Alberta, as well as exciting new tools we’ve designed in-house — and which are available to anyone for free — to support your advocacy journey.

We’ll also have new skill-building how-to guides as takeaway materials, which will help you and your community scale up your impact and become a “Forest Guardian.”

Josh Killeen, Lorne Fitch, and our Executive Director Katie Morrison will also be available to answer questions and chat with at this casual and conversational event.

If you have a burning question about Alberta’s forests, forest management, aquatic Species at Risk like our native trout, or our headwaters, please email communicationssab@cpaws.org with the subject line “March Forestry Event – Question for Event.”

As always, tickets are available on a sliding scale. Please pay what you are comfortable and if the cost is a barrier, don’t hesitate to let us know by reaching out to Kat at communciationssab@cpaws.org.
