Calgary’s wetlands need your help! Did you know that wetlands provide ecosystem services such as flood mitigation and water filtration? Call of the Wetland, a citizen science program that aims to better understand the health of Calgary’s wetlands, needs volunteers to participate in wetland surveys city-wide. As amphibians are an important indicator of wetland health, surveys consist of reporting amphibian calls and sightings using a mobile app. The Call of the Wetland app contains identification tips, recordings and photos, and can be downloaded on Apple or Google Play. Either sign up for a planned survey at a pre-selected wetland, or submit your incidental observations. No experience necessary! Optional orientations will be held: Sunday April 15 th at 10am at Wetland #14 (North Glenmore Park) OR Tuesday, April 24 th at 7pm at Wetland #6 (Edgemont).
