Alberta’s New Nature Strategy: Have Your Say

The Government of Alberta has released a new survey to solicit feedback on a ‘made-in-Alberta strategy’ intended to guide how we maintain, conserve, and manage nature in our province.

CPAWS Southern and Northern Alberta welcome the Government of Alberta offering the opportunity for public input into the development of such a strategy, and encourage everyone interested and invested in the maintenance and improvement of our parks, public lands and waters, protected areas, and nature as a whole, to fill it out.

If we are to develop a provincial ‘Nature Strategy,’ it must address key issues, including:

  1. Biodiversity loss,
  2. Ecosystem integrity and functionality, and
  3. Water security.

Importantly, a Nature Strategy must also outline measurable goals and targets, with accompanying actions, that will be implemented over the next decade to halt and reverse biodiversity loss in our province.

If you are seeking guidance on how to fill out this survey in order to emphasize conservation values, or unsure about how to answer a specific question, we have prepared a question by question survey guide.

Note: The survey must be completed by November 7, 2024.
